II. Summary

Well, I apologize for the late report. I’ve used the extra time attempting to catch up on all of the outstanding issues. I’ve gone through 600+ emails that were direct to the RC office, not counting emails from lists. At this point I think I’m pretty well caught up. But, if I have missed something, please let me know.
We’re still in our 6 month review for the RC staff. There’s likely going to be some changes coming soon as a result of the discussions.
In regards to SCARE, the National Conventions Administrator has collected applications for a SCARE Event Lead. I’ve been speaking with the NCA, and we hope to have Hotel and Lead finalized very soon.
There have been a large number of transfers recently, and some changes to the club’s transfer policies. As a result, I am going to start a transfer audit soon. More information will be forthcoming.
I’ve gotten some excellent suggestions on some socials to promote better health and fitness for cammies. I’d like to work out some of the details, but we should have something to put to the region soon.
To help keep tabs on current events, I ask that anyone contacting the Regional Coordinator Staff, CC me on the email. This helps to ensure that action items are being handled by the appropriate staff member, and helps me know what’s going on across the Region.
If you have any Questions, Problems, or Concerns that have not been addressed by Regional yet, please contact us! When an issue does arise, please contact us right away, and make sure it’s included in your local report later, if we haven’t resolved it by then.

QUESTION & ANSWERS Admin:– Number of positions one member can have: as per the rules, a Cam member can have up to 3 positions as long as none of those positions report to another one (ie, you can’t supervise yourself, http://camarilla.white-wolf.com/usnc/faq.php?id=36); no member can hold more than one assistant position that reports to the same elected officer; and no more than 2 regional, nationall, or global positions simultaneously. Education/Outreach:– Continue working on the New Member packet– Create a more “step-by-step” or in-depth guide for recruiting- Create more fun “quick reference” guides for the SC Region (officers, new members and general members) to use.- Possible Kits/Guides to make: ST officer kit, Player kit, ARC Education kit (for next ARC).- AFTER the kits, I’d like to hopefully move forward on Erica’s idea of online classes – something interactive that can be offered online to help get the information out there. – I’m trying to make myself available for Oklahoma domains and for new members/new officers. I keep an “open door” policy… but I’m not sure how to get people to use it.

SUMMARY
If you (or your domain) are having any prestige issues, let me know. Really when I do audits I am not looking to strip prestige, but I want to make sure that when national looks at your log, they aren’t telling you a whole boatload of new information. I figure if every member had a good looking over of their log, then it would stop “bad prestige habits” before they start and stop the excitement of thinking you have your next MC then finding bunches and bunches of prestige had to go away because it was over cap, violated the MH/FAQs, or just that you didn’t put enough information.
Last but not least! Help your region out by donating supplies. These supplies are being used at FGOTM, to send you your MC Cards, and they will be available for SCRE! Check out the list, http://www.scregion.org/index.php?view=article&catid=60%3Aprestige-news&id=73%3Aso-you-want-to-earn-prestige&option=com_content&Itemid=80, for a few bucks you can really help out the region.

Services (Charities/Events):– Wrapped up Red Cross Regional Drive– Implemented November/ October Charity Drive (Feeding America)- Gathered, compiled and turned in SC Region Voter Registration prestige recommendations to NC- Began review and reconstruction on Regional Domain level charities- Working on Regional item valuation chart- Subscribed to YourCause.Com to work on a Regional Charity Web site that will run information collection- Taking ideas for SCaRE charities.- Put out all call for FGotM for December, January and February- Received bid for February for Beaumont FGotM. Approved bid at my level. Will pass on to RC and RST’s office- Got in touch with Domains independently that had shown interest in hosting FG’s. Timing and Economy largest factors in hesitations- Sent email reminder to Odessa and Little Rock that I have still not received their Even Services FG prestige recommendations. The DC, Leslea Cross has all documentation but is just waiting on RC approval- There is a pending application for Natchitoches Independent Chapter. They are wanting to know an eta on the approval process. Charities/ Events:– none at this time PROJECTS Admin:– Working on personal schedule to arrange a visit to Ruston, Natchitoches, Baton Rouge and New Orleans- Starting contact process to make certain that all Domains are current with membership, officers completed applicable Ordeals,- Identifying areas that need matching with the appropriate ARC for realizing potential in the Domains. What do I do if a member sends me prestige that is more that a couple months old?
Up to three months may be backdated by a DC. So prestige for August could be backdated in a November Report (Due December 7th). A Regional Coordinator may backdate prestige up to six months. Past that, you have to request the National Coordinator backdate it.

Questions: Do you know where it is actually listed that item donations need to be itemized in order for the coordinator to award proper prestige. I have a member (st) arguing that itemization is not required specifically in the handbook and therefore he doesn’t have to provide it. I’d like to provide a reference rather than just saying “do it or else”. Help?
Well, most charity drives are local and result in awards of General prestige awarded by a DC or CC. As such the DC or CC can set whatever guidelines for reporting they feel are necessary. Since only very exceptional items (computers, furniture, etc.) should earn more than five prestige per item, an itemized list ensures members are getting the prestige they deserve according to the items donated. If nothing else, an idea of volume may be suitable, I’ve accepted descriptions like “3 pick-up truck loads full of clothes donated to Goodwill”. Ultimately it is up to the Coordinator running the Drive, but I do encourage some level of detail so that the prestige survives Regional and National Audits.

I saw in Mitch Remy, the weekend of the Tulsa Featured Game, something that I wish would be as readily available in everyone. After the long, tiring, exhausting hours of planning, after the grueling length of day on Saturday, when he thought he would have a couple of hours to relax with just his wife, he didn’t. A couple of cammies broke down on the way home late Sunday afternoon. He got a phone call from Keel and Laura around 3:30 or so that afternoon. I volunteered to drive him out to see what we could do to fix their truck. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the truck fixed. When I say “we”, what I mean is he was looking at the engine and such, I was “helping” by telling Keel when to try and start it. After about half an hour, we determined that we were not going to be able to fix it. Laura prompted the question of how they were going to get home. I could not drive them, unfortunately. When I stated this, Mitch said, without hesitation, “I’ll take them home.”
This is one of the reasons, if not the primary one, why I first joined the Camarilla August 1999. Sacrifice for friends. Sacrifice for others. That spark of humanity that reaches out and connects each of us to the other. What Whitman called the “Oversoul”. Even through the long hours of work and effort on Saturday. Even through the verbal abuse and complaints he took from some. Even through all of that, he still had that which I value most: compassion.
