Summary:

========

The South Central Region is currently in a very odd and extreme state. We

have some people who are doing really amazing things for us and then we have

some that are really hurting us. We have some areas that are truely awesome

and others that are totally failing.

It seems that our older more estiblished areas have fallen prey to apathy

and petty bickering while the younger or newer areas are hotbeds of

motivation and espirit-de-corp.

I would really like each member of this region to take a step back an look

at their effect on the overall picture. What am I doing to help the

organization? What effect am I having both in gmae and out of game? Am I

helping or hurting the organization and/or the game? I would really like

them to look at that. Again we are all here for FUN. And there are alot of

people who do this and go the extra step not for the prestige or power but

because they care. And everytime we go thru a grievence or a power play or

the infinite number of ways people go at each other… All we succeed in is

hurting the organization and the overall level of enjoyment.

I realize the tone of this is harsh but it needs to be to make people

understand that everyone from myself to the person thinking well its not me

he is talking about is responsible. We are all responsible for making the

Cam a cool place to be. Making it fun and exciting. Doing the little work

that needs to get done which no one wants.

This is one of our down sides… But on the up side… SCARE was truely

amazing. I have never been prouder of anything. Wow… THe people in this

region are awesome when they set their minds and efforts into motion they

are unstoppable. We had really no major problems. The hotel loved us.

Everyone I talked to had a great time and wants to go to the next one!

Whoop! But I must give credit where credit is do… There are a group of

people who worked their asses off for SCARE and they are the ones who should

be thanked… Me… I just showed up… And really didnt do much but not

sleep. So to all of you who did the work and made SCARE perhaps one of the

best events I have ever been too. I thank you and the check is in the mail

[Just kidding… I am working ont eh SCARE report and it will be out soon.]

So I guess what I am trying to say in summary is the we, the members, of the

South Central Region need to realize our potential and see the vision of

what we can and should be. We should work toward that goal. We need to keep

that focus so we can get passed all of the crap we seem to get trap in. And

if you ask do I believe this pile of BS I am writing. I absolutely do. I

would not write it if I didnt.

Policies:

=========

1: Please remember that we need to start checking people’s cam members. This

needs to be done in two ways.

One is that all CC’s should be verifing their chapter members to make sure

their memberships are current.

Two, all coordinators at events needs to make sure they are checking in

people. And when they do this they should be checking for a Cam membership

card.

2: There has been alot of resistence to being a member where you live. Wow.

People this is very simple and actually design to make the adminstartive

side of things easy. Not more difficult. So please just do it.

The idea here is that if there is a Cam presence within the area you live

then join that group. So if you live in an area witha Chapter then join it.

If it is a Domain with choose a chapter there and join it. If you live

somewhere that does not have a Chapter, so you join a chapter nearby, then a

Chapter forms in your town… Guess what join it.

This again is to make it easier for both the ST and the Coordinator staffs

to help you and track your information. And hopefully you will want to take

part in what the local group does.

Lastly, particiaption is this is not voluntary. Now there are exceptions to

any rule. One such exception is Eric Moore. This was done specifically so

someone on the RC staff would not have Chapter or Domain bias. There are

three members of Houston that are really from Huntsville but allowed to

transfer membership to Houston. That is all of the exceptions this Office

has to the current policy. So, please, and again, join a local group.

3: Due to many recent problems, I will be travelling to each of the

following areas to have an office then Open meeeting with the members there.

These areas include Houston/Galveston, San Antonio/Austin, and finally

Dallas. These meetings are to try to solve some fo the rampant problems that

seem to be facing us in these areas.

The Officer meetings will be mandatory for all Coordinators and Storytellers

of those areas. The Open portion will be open to any and all members of that

area.

The schedule for this will be in April. I will be contacting the DCs about

this so we can finalize the when and the where.

Goals/Projects:

===============

1: Recruiting

Please… Please… Please…

This is a great way to make new friends. To increase the pool of PC to play

with/against. And not a bad way to earn some prestige… Ah the magik

words…

2: My Promise

11 Months left in goal of making the South Central Region the undisputed

number one region in the Camarilla. And we are currently the 4th largest in

size. So folks out there in SCRland, I need some help. We all new to work on

better the quality of our events. Making sure that they are fun for all…

Cause after all that is what this organization is about… FUN.

3: Hiring a few new officers to help adminster to my region. I have gotten

several really good apps and will be making some choices soon.

4: I hope to have the SCARE prestige out by Friday March 24, 2000

Review of Domain and Chapter Reports:

I am attempting to change some of the format of my report to hopefully make

it more informative to not only the Corrdinating staff but to the generally

members, so please bare with me.

Also, I am now placing a ‘No report in X months’ stamps on each

Chapter/Domain report. This is very important to you as a member of that

Chapter or Domain. If you see that your CC or DC isnt reporting then they

are not doing their job.

Issues:

1) New problem: Declining membership.

Furia de la Mortis, TX 017. If the membership of this Chapter has issues

with suspensions or any policy that the Camarilla has. Please ask them to

contact my Office and I will try to explain the why and how of our policies.

If the Chapter is having motivational problems or just is not happy with the

situation perhaps folding the Chapter is the best solution.

Teeth of Gaia, Tx 021. The loss of members always hurts a Chapter and they

are correct the Residency policy is not a strictly written out word for word

policy. But it is the basic foundation of the way we create Chapters and

Domains. A member should join a local chapter in the Domian where they live.

They should participate locally. There are currently a few exceptions to

this policy. Any member that has an issue with this is free to conatct me

directly.

2) “We Love Our ST’s” day

Really cool idea! I like it. Please let me know how it turns out.

Questions:

1) How can one encourage the recruitment and training of ST’s?

Answer: I wish I had a good one for this…

Recruitment: People need to realize that we need STs to help the games out.

It is really bad when there is only 2 STs at a game of 50 people. So people

need to learn how to use that resource wisely and how to make the event fun

for the ST also. Being an ST can be incrediblely rewarding if the players

help out instead of argue and occasionally say Thank you!

Training: Best thing for this is experience, meeting and talking to another

STs, watching the way other STs run things. Have them travel a bit so they

can see the many different styles of STs out there. So they can see what

they like and do not like.

2) Has the 9CCP audit been received for Roberta Broussard?

Answer: No

3) The Austin Issue dealing with the Williams, Joe Baker, and Janeka Rector

is one issue. Any grievence/appeal deals with the entire issue as I see it.

This matter has been appealed and since it was a Domain Coordinator edict

that makes it a regional matter.

4) How to get Regional Prestige?

Answer: I actually hear this question alot. The standard answer is there are

a tremdous number of opportunities to gain National or Regional Prestige. A

member only needs to be truely motivated and willingot work. Both Regional

Offices post up ways to earn such as new positions or projects. There is the

recruitment bonus that has been active since I became RC. Also if someone

really wants to earn prestige… They should go out and impress us… Do

something that effects the regional [in a good way] but instead of waiting

around for ways to happen take a more proactive stance. I have rewarded

people who have done really cool/wonderful things regional prestige. I just

need to here about what they did and how it effected us. These are things

like charity events, etc. One important thing here to remember it is not the

job or responsiblity of this Office to make sure everyone has or gets an

opportunity to get Regional prestige.

Comments:

Please contact me directly about certain prestige awards. I am a little bit

concerned with amounts being given out.

TXD06

DC: Kelley Barnes kl.barnes@mail.utexas.edu

Prestige Award [Includes both SCARE position and DC]: 30 R 20 G

Report: Ontime. Very nice and well structure report. Way to go!

Noticed on the Domain statistics [Which I like very much] that Austin has 51

members and 6 Chapters. 6 Chapters would need over 60 members in the Domain

to keep all of the Chapters. Please look into this matter. Austin may need

to collapse a chapter or two.

Questions:

1) Nick Elliot’s prestige total?

Answer: Nick is at MC 12. Instruct his CC to record him at the minimum level

of prestige for that MC plus any Nick has claimed since moving to Austin.

2) Rick Gullikson’s prestige total?

Answer: Rick is currently recorded at MC 9. Since Rick does not have a copy

of his records and no one seems to have one. Have the CC reord him at the

minimum levels for MC 9. Also have CC contact the Director of Chapters. The

DoCh does have an extensive database of previous reports. There might be

some information there that could help on this matter.

3) Owed prestige

Answer: For IRC or list mod issues, I would suggest Dan Schmitt ,DoC. And

for Wes, I would suggest contacting Charlie Rose ,DoI.

Comments: Austin seems to having a morale issue. I have been contact by

several members wishing to transfer their memberships to other Domains.

There also seems to be an extreme level of distrusted between the general

membership and its Officers. Please contact me about these issues so we

might be able to create an equitable solution to prevent this for doing any

more harm to the Domain.

TXD11

DC: Lana Brandon [No contact info]

Prestige Award: 0 G

Report: No report as of this date [2 months no report]

Questions/Problems/Issues: None

Comments: Any member of the Galveston Domain that reads this report, please

have your DC contact me. This is very important to the survival of your

Domain.

DC: Laura Blum mclb@ghg.net

Prestige Award: 30 G

Report: Late

Questions/Problems/Issues:

2 of your Chapters are not reporting. Those are Deja Vu and Garden of

Thorns. This situation needs to be fixed before both Chapters are folding

for not reporting.

Comments: There are currently issues dealing with the fact that the

Coordinator and the Storytelling staffs have had a severe failure of

communication. Mainly dealing with who is responsible for secure game sites.

This is the job of the Coordinating staff. Please seek to resolve this issue

and both staffs need to work on better lines of communication. We should

work together as a team not as two seperate units.

Questions/Problems/Issues:

1) Splitting the Chapters. Make sure to have the new chapter fill out a

Chapter form and have that sent in. Til such time as it is Official from the

DoCh, there is no new chapter. Also, I guess we do that magik thing to

create a Domain there too. 🙂

2) Issue of Under age players. If Will Stull has an issue with this policy

please have him contact me about it. His next violation of this policy will

lead to the maximum penality this Office can grant and I will seek to have

him removed from the organization.

Comments: Please contact me about hte creation of the new chapter. Simple to

work out all the details. Thanks.
