SCARE 2009 Forsaken Venue Style Sheet
EVENT: South Central Regional Event Forsaken Game
GENRE: Werewolf: The Forsaken LARP
STORYTELLER INFORMATION:
Lead Storyteller: Laura Simpson, circuitfox@yahoo.com
LOCATION:
OOC: SCaRE 2009, New Orleans, LA
IC: New Orleans, LA
TEASER:
“Horror? I’ll tell you about horror. I have stared down the most vile, inhuman, wretched creatures that man’s imagination could ever create. I have hunted them down and sunk my teeth deep into their flesh. I have risked my life and the life of my pack mates to keep these creatures from dwelling in the land of men. I have done this in honor of Urfarah, and the Oath I made to my tribe. My pack and I patrol our territory and face down our foes without fear. Yet there are horrors so terrible, so ancient that I wake in a cold sweat at night at the thought of their nightmarish forms. We can not act alone, however, to face down these mightiest of foes. Therefore we call upon the strength of our neighbors, other of the Tribes of the Moon to come and stand at our side and fight as brothers and sisters. Together our teeth shall pierce and our claws shall rake, and our foe shall fall.”
SETTING/TIME:
April 17th: 10:00 am – 2:00pm, Ballroom A, B, C & D
April 18th: 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Ballroom A, B, C & D
THEME:
The past is not forgotten.
MOOD:
All over the region Beshilu encounters are on the rise. The Gauntlet is being torn asunder for some insidious purpose as yet undiscovered. Rumors rise up on the wind, but which ones can be trusted, and which ones are just old fears playing on the mind?
SETTING:
Much of the spiritual landscape of New Orleans shifted in the wake of hurricane’s Katrina and Rita. Well established courts were sent into turmoil as their essence supplies dried up when the people began abandoning the city. Places of business supporting spirits of commerce, trade and money were replaced with spirits of decay and despair attracted to the destruction left behind. Yet this chaos was not the only change that occurred during this time of upheaval. All this
activity woke something…a sleeping giant. In the years following the hurricane’s, the spirit courts of New Orleans have re-established themselves and look much as they did before the catastrophe. The territories of Uratha and
spirit alike have shifted, but on the surface life goes on in much the same manner as it always has, oblivious to the danger lurking nearby.
VENUE RULES:
The latest MST Camarilla Rules Addendum and US Addendum are in effect for this convention.
Characters shall conform to these rules. For on-site IC check-in, please bring 2 printed (neatly handwritten ink is acceptable, but pencil is not) copies of your character sheet complete with the following:
*Player name, Camarilla membership number, storyteller name, storyteller email address and storyteller Camarilla membership number.
*A complete experience log that includes a creation log, experience awards, and all required approval numbers.
*Detailed listing of all mechanics applicable to the character from sources other than the MET World of Darkness and Werewolf: The Forsaken main book. If you do not have these mechanics on hand, the storytellers reserve the right to refuse the use of these powers at the event.
*Approval items must include the approval write-up complete with mechanics. NOTE: Some items will be disallowed or effects changed at storyteller discretion.
**Anything that requires Forsaken Lead Storyteller approval must have the email, or written notice approving the item at check-in or the item will not be allowed. In order to have a pack totem present at the event, players must send the full write-up (complete with build points) to the Forsaken Lead Storyteller by the due date. Totems will effectively be proxied for the game and cannot be used at any other game during SCaRE. Please bring two printed (or neatly written ink) copies of any pack totems for in-site IC check-in. Storytellers reserve the right to disallow or run any pack totem as they see fit.
ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RULES:
The following items need to be approved for play prior to the event. Approvals for these items will be accepted via email no later than the due date of March 31st, 2009. A confirmation email from the Forsaken Lead Storyteller will be returned with the acceptance. Players will be responsible for producing this approval at character check-in:
*Fetishes of five dots or higher
*Pack Totems
*Top approval custom items or group affiliation of any kind
*Any type of mobile locus
*Any ‘cursed’ or ghost fetishes
*Magical items other than fetishes
*In-character off-site locations for play
*Weaponry outside what is described in MET: World of Darkness and other sanctioned material.
*Retainers
STARTING ESSENCE/ESSENCE ON HAND:
Characters are assumed to come to the gathering full on essence, but will lose essence per standard rules for high levels of primal urge.
RITES:
Many of the Forsaken rites take up large amounts of valuable game time, which is scarce at convention games. Because of this, certain rites will be disallowed at the convention for conservation of game time. For all other rites participants will have the opportunity to “speed through” the rites with appropriate roleplay.
NON-PLAYER CHARACTERS/PLOTLINES:
Non-player characters (NPCs) not affiliated with authorized SCaRE 2009 plot kits being run by the team leads require Venue Lead Storyteller approval. Storytellers may petition to incorporate their plotlines and/or NPCs into the SCaRE 2009 plots; approval of the Forsaken Lead Storyteller is required to do so. NPCs affiliated with a specific PC, such as retainers, also need to have Forsaken Lead Storyteller approval prior to the event.
ON-SITE VS. OFF-SITE:
Players will have opportunity for going off-site as part of the event. Any such off-site aspects of the game will be clearly delineated as such by the Storytellers. If players wish to have gatherings such as Tribe or Lodge meetings, they should contact the Forsaken Lead Storyteller to arrange such gatherings.
TRAVEL RISKS:
Travel risks to and from the gathering are minimal. Any character employing unusual travel methods should check with the Forsaken Lead Storyteller.
PROXY RULES:
Though proxy play is permitted by the Camarilla rules supplements, proxy characters will not be allowed for SCaRE Forsaken 2009.
EXPERIENCE:
The standard experience for SCaRE Forsaken will be 5xp per full session played, up to 4xp overcap for the event. The experience may be divided between characters if more than one character is played during a session. Experience for a good death may be awarded by a player’s home storytellers in accordance with the Camarilla Rules Supplement, or by the Forsaken Lead Storyteller or Event Storytellers for character deaths occurring during the convention.
STORYTELLER EMPOWERMENT:
Combat, and scenes with over six participants, because of their tendency to escalate quickly into a time freeze that will tie up characters, will be carefully monitored. The storyteller is empowered to determine when and how other characters are allowed to enter such scenes. If players argue with the storytellers, or otherwise disrupt the flow of the scene, that player will be asked by the storyteller to hand their character sheet over to them and leave the game, at which
point the PC will be scripted out of the game in a manner fully at the discretion of the Forsaken Lead Storyteller. The storyteller’s main priority is conservation of time and progression of story. Any and all storytellers or narrators have authority over how the game is run and on-site rules calls. Any arguing or disruption of game will not be tolerated.
MASS DESTRUCTION EFFECTS:
Actions, effects and mass destruction effects have the potential to end the In-character reason for the gathering prematurely. Any effect that could result in the mass exodus of characters from the area, or items that have the potential of doing so must be approved through the Forsaken Lead Storyteller before they are taken.
